Well for starters, it looks like Hollywood has remade "The Heartbreak Kid". The original starred Charles Gordin in the 1970's. Now we have been Ben Stiller in his role. It looks funny but I'm not sure if I'm going to rush off to see it as it's another remake. The movie is based on a play by Neil Simon.
It's a Dreamworks picture. The movie is directed by the same people who gave the world "There's Something About Mary" in the 1990's starring Ben Stiller and Cameron Dianz. This movie is coming to movie theaters on October 5, 2007. It's also my birthday on that day.
There also the new action movie "The Kingdom" starring Jamie Fox, Jennifer Garner and Chris Cooper. The plot revolves around a group of agents sent to Saudi Arabia after a terrorist bombing there. It kinda looks like the "The Seige" starring Bruce Willis,Annette Benning and Denzel Washington. It also stars Jason Bateman and Jermey Piven. This movie is coming to movie theaters on September 28th. I might see this movie on the big screen but odds are I might wait for it on DVD. There's something familar about the movie but I cannot figure it out yet.
Then we get another Russell Crowe movie this year. It is titled "American Gangster".Currently he is starring the western "3:10 to Yuma". Only this time is he out to get Denzel Washington as a African American mafia in the 1970's. It is based on real life events. This is first time since 1995's " Virtousity" that the two stars have made a movie together. Only this it's reversed. Denzel Washington is the bad guy. Now it's Russell Crowe's turn to bring Denzel Washington to justice.
This movie is directed by Ripley Scott. The last time Russell Crowe and him worked together was on 2000's "Gladiator". Hopefully it was get Oscar voters attention like he did with "Gladiator". "American Gangster" is due to arrive at movie theaters on November 2, 2007.
